Welcome to Self-Acceptance and Authenticity!
Slut! is a guided exploration of sex and sexuality as it relates to any difficulties one may experience with regards to self-acceptance. This book is structured as a workbook allowing the reader to engage the material at their own pace. The intent of the work is to assist anyone struggling with being able to accept themselves as a sexual being. Throughout these explorations, the author includes; historical and societal context for how beliefs develop, interviews with people whose personal stories share individual experiences related to sex and sexuality, as well as exercises, meditations and reflective questions that prompt the reader towards a deeper understanding of the self.
Why is talking about sex important?
Because sexual health is a part of the overall health of most people, it is vital to engage thoughtful discussion without shaming or dehumanizing an individual. Sexuality is such a fundamental aspect of human existence, that to alienate oneself from one’s own innate being is to sever an essential aspect of a person’s humanity. This encompasses our emotional, physical and interpersonal connections. The significance of this extends to the belief that access to appropriate sexual healthcare and education is a matter of social justice and human rights. The ability to live authentically is an affirmation of our inherent value as human beings. Rather than demonizing and censoring sexuality, it is far healthier to explore it with thoughtful positivity, consent and care.
